Simultaneous - Consecutive Conference Interpreting
Interpretation can be performed in different modes. They are Simultaneous, Consecutive and Whispered Interpretation modes.
Conference Interpreting is usually associated with simultaneous mode of interpreting.
Some people use the 2 terms as synonymous. We use the term Conference Interpreting for any mode of interpreting at the conferences.
We offer services of Conference Interpreting in Ukraine and abroad ( if travel expenses covered), in both Simultaneous and Consecutive interpreting modes.
Simultaneous Interpretation is performed by an interpreter almost simultaneously,i.e. within the delay of not more than several seconds with receiving a message in the Source Language ( SL) with the help of special equipment ( microphones, earphones, FM radio and infra-red tranceivers,TV monitors, tape-recorders, etc). Working in this mode the interpreter sits in a soundproof booth with direct or indirect ( via the TV monitor) view of the conference room, listens to a speaker through earphones and simultaneously interprets the message into the Target Language (TL) via microphone to the listeners in the room ( cited from MAKSIMOV S.E.Two Way Interpretation.-K:Lenvit,2007). Some people call simultaneous interpretation "conference interpreting" or "conference interpretation" because this mode is mostly used at international forums.
Consecutive Interpretation is performed consecutively,i.e. SL messages are interpreted one after another in pauses ( these messages may be sentences or paragraphs long enough to convey a complete meaning and short enough for an interpreter to remember or/and to take notes of them). While working consecutively the interpreter sits at a conference table, listens to a speech, takes notes and then renders the meaning of SL message into the TL.Consecutive Interpretation or Consecutive Interpreting is more often used at bilingual meetings, discussions and interviews. Whispered Interpretation is performed in a simultaneous mode, however without any special equipment. The interpreter sits behind the delegates in the meeting room and whispers in the Target Language to a maximum of two or three delegates what is being said in a Source Language.

One working day of a Consecutive interpreter is 120 USD. If the order is for more than 5 days, the price can be up to 90 per day.
All the conference materials disregarding the mode of interpreting must be provided at least one week before the event should you care for quality of interpreting product. You will meet the interpreter beforehand to make sure of her/his abilities
Hourly rate for the consecutive mode starts from 20 USD. Minimal quantity of hours is 2.
